Leo Yu-Ning Chang (He/Him) is a bilingual storyteller and educator based in NYC. Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Leo co-founded the award-winning A Cappella band-Guess What. In 2016, he took a leap of faith and moved to the U.S. to pursue his passion for musical theatre. Upon getting his M.F.A. in Musical Theatre at San Diego State University, Leo moved to NYC and participated in a variety of performances as an interdisciplinary artist. Some of these performances include Revelation: The Musical (off-Broadway), over 20 workshops for new musical theatre works, and hosting the Taiwanese Waves concerts at Summerstage in Central Park, NYC since 2017.
Currently, Leo serves as an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College and is a teaching artist traveling across the US and Taiwan. He has taught at various institutions, including the New York City Center, La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego State University, National Taiwan University, and the Theatre Education Conference at EdTA. As an educator, Leo’s priorities and strengths are creating brave and inclusive learning spaces, amplifying and celebrating different voices, and teaching through an inclusive lens. His passion for advocating for students and artists from underrepresented communities led him to serve as the Vice-President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Musical Theatre Educators Alliance (MTEA) from 2021-2023.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility will always be the pillars of Leo’s creative works and teaching. Let’s join Leo to discover your unique voice, dance with joy, and share your love through storytelling.
